Schloss Moosham is a medieval castle perched at about 1,079 m above sea level in the Lungau region of Salzburg, Austria.

  • First documented around 1191

  • It served for centuries as a seat of the Prince‑Archbishops of Salzburg and, more ominously, was the site of infamous witch trials (the Zaubererjackl witch trials) between 1675‑1690, with many men, women and children condemned.

  • The castle remains privately owned (by the Wilczek family) but is open to the public.

  • Today, visitors will find a combination of historic architecture, preserved interiors including torture‑chamber exhibits, and scenic views of the region
