Pattani is one of the southern provinces of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from southeast clockwise) Narathiwat, Yala, and Songkhla. Its capital is the town of Pattani.

Geography

Pattani is on the Malay Peninsula, with the coast of the Gulf of Thailand to the north. The south is dominated by the Sankalakhiri mountain range, which includes Budo-Su-ngai Padi National Park, on the border with Yala and Narathiwat. The total forest area is 110 km2 (42 sq mi) or 5.6 percent of provincial area.

History

The name Pattani is the Thai adaptation of the Malay name Patani, which can mean "this beach" in Patani Malay language. (In standard Malay, this would be pantai ini.) According to legend, the founder of Patani went hunting and saw an albino mouse-deer the size of a goat, which then disappeared. He enquired where the animal had gone, and his men replied: "Pata ni lah!" ("this beach!") They searched for the mouse-deer but found instead an old man, who said his name was Che' Tani. The raja later ordered a town be built on the site where the mouse-deer had disappeared, and it is therefore believed that the town was named either after the beach or the old man.

Another suggestion is that it derives from a Sanskrit word pathini, meaning "virgin nymph"; Pathini was the name of a daughter of Merong Mahawangsa, founder of the preceding Langkasuka Empire.

Historically, Pattani province was the centre of the Malay Sultanate of Patani Darul Makrif. For centuries a tributary state of Siam, Patani has been governed by Siam since its conquest in 1786. The provinces of Patani were turned into seven smaller provinces: Patani, Nhongchik, Raman, Ra-ngae, Saiburi, Yala and Yaring, later regrouped in 1906 into 4 larger provinces: Patani, Bangnara, Saiburi and Yala. Siamese rule was officially acknowledged by the Burney Treaty of 1826 negotiated with the British Empire which included also Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Terengganu. Unlike these four sultanates, Patani was not included in the Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909 and remained under Siamese rule. Both Yala (Jala) and Narathiwat (Menara) were originally part of Patani, but were made provinces in their own right during the territorial administrative reform and the creation of a united centralized Siam state in the early-20th century.

Wolfland Touring Park is a group booking park for 4x4/expedition camper and enthusiasts. It is a secluded, rugged and peaceful park suitable for single ship, family meetups, jamborees or group gatherings. The park features a river along the border, with water-infras ready for family convenience. We're group booking park, but individual reservation can still be accepted.

Located in Hulu Selangor in the idyllic village of Sungai Sabai, Kalumpang, Wolfland provides a green grounds, quiet getaway, cold night, soaring buzzards, free roaming squirrels, monkeys and direct footpath to the river across the premise border. Feel free to roving around the untapped Northwuf (north section) if adventure and thrill is your thing.

The park also serves as the home for Rover Serigala, and exclusive venue of the annual ROVERCAMP event, bringing together clubs, businesses, and individuals to create a unique platform for connection and networking.

Essential water infras is available to enhance your rugged experience and convenient for your family and friends. However, we still encourage you to embrace the off-grid ethos for an authentic expedition simulation. Please remember to bring your own power pack or battery, as no electricity is provided.

Pitching Fees

RM50: 1 vehicle for 1 tent, per night (RTT is not counted). Extra tent must be declared and will be charged accordingly.

The park will be closed and solely dedicated to your group if a minimum of 30 units is reserved, ensuring coverage of the entire camping area, including the Southwuf and Midwuf sections.

Our park & culture

Yes, we have river along the premise border, small but lengthy, big enough for everyone.

Our 4 acres of rugged and semi jungle are open for group booking for groups, big family or jamboree, which will fit up to 100 kitted vehicle units or more at Southwuf and Midwuf section.

Our park are broadly divided into 3 sections;

Southwuf; generally where we pitch,
Midwuf; pitch area with tall bushes (regular trim works needed)
Northwuf; the untapped area, it is plan for conservation and plantation.

We'll remain as a rugged, secluded park, and will continue to encourage our campers to be fully geared. We plan to have more trees and some river trim work, the pack loves them.

Direction

99.9% of Wolfland's route is on paved roads, trackable through Waze. The last 500 meters, however, will only be revealed once your booking is confirmed

Wolfland is typically accessible to all vehicles. However, it's restricted to 4x4 trucks during the wet season due to muddy conditions, tall bushes, and rough roads along the last 250 meters of the non-tarmac track. Drive cautiously at all times.

99-Door Mansion (Caledonian House), 1917 - most haunted house in Penang

99-Door Mansion is an early 20th century estate manor in Nibong Tebal, Seberang Perai, Penang. According to the number on top of the house, it was built in 1917. The two-storey mansion has ten rooms and is said to have a total of ninety doors.

The 99-Door Mansion is located in the midst of Byram Estate (or perhaps Victoria Estate), an estate which began as a sugar cane plantation in the 19th century. Its actual name is most likely Caledonian House. Around 1880, a drop in the commodity prices of sugar compelled the estate to switch from sugar cane to rubber. In the 1960's, low commodity price for rubber forced another switch, to palm oil.

There are a lot of broken furniture scattered throughout the house and refuse everywhere. The staircase to the upper floor is boarded up to prevent trespassers from going upstairs. There are grafitti on the walls all around the house. At the rear side of the house is a toilet, probably for the use of the caretaker.

The 99-Door Mansion actually looks more like a school than a residence. The rooms on either wings of the mansion appear like classrooms. In all likelihood, it might have been used as a school, a notion that still need to be researched. [source]

Fairy Meadows, which was christened by German mountaineers and is referred to locally as Joot, is a verdant expanse situated in the vicinity of a base camp for Nanga Parbat, located in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. With an elevation of approximately 3,300 metres (10,800 ft) above sea level, it functions as the starting point for hikers aiming to scale the Rakhiot face of Nanga Parbat. The Government of Pakistan designated Fairy Meadows as a National Park in 1995.

A notable draw of this location, aside from the meadows per se, is the prospect of viewing the majestic Nanga Parbat Mountain. Tourists frequently embark on a trek to the mountain's base camp from Fairy Meadows.

The meadows are enveloped by dense alpine woodland. At lower elevations, Artemisia is the predominant plant species, intermixed with yellow ash, stone oaks, and Pinus gerardiana. The region harbors a population of brown bears, albeit dwindling, and a few musk deer, which are classified as endangered.
